Day 05 - Bangkok-Singapore / 10:03 pm

Phaya Thai/Pratunam/Ratchatewi
Temp: 27 - 34c

Last Day!!! Time sure passes fast...Now we are left exploring the surrounding Pratunam area as we missed out on the timings previously. Come to think of it, most of the prices seemed to have increased and there wasnt much to purchase at the Pratunam area, which hasnt really changed.

Across the road is the brand-new Platinum Fashion Mall, where all the small small shops selling clothes and accessories congregate together in 6-7 storeys with the top floor mainly food court and fast food. We probably arrived too early as most of the shops have yet to be open -_-''''

Desserts @ Swensens..hmm..ok...i forgotten their names...

Time was running out...Connecting bridge to Ratchatewi BTS Station
Our small alley leading back to our hotel
Viola!...the entrance

Check-out slightly late around 12 noon before saying farewell to Bangkok city. Travelled on one of those mini-bus as shown above with another Malaysian family flying back to KL... Below shows the new highway towards Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Departure Entrance...the glass facade looks like our T3
Check-in counter Row G. (How empty!)
Views from "Skyloft", the top floor that is filled with food-court and a restaurant having typical expensive meals.
Rather early, so we strolled around the airport >> Below shows a crowd surrounding the exit of the arrival restricted area.

Ahhh...the unique shape of the escalators...reminded me of the whatever algebraic graphs learnt in upper sec...haha..its so fun to ride on them.

Immigration Area. Note the black ball with a stand on every table >> Thats the camera that will take a face photo before you leave and you are supposed to look into it. Hahaha.

After the immigration, these are some of the decorative Thai Architectures which you will see on the bridge leading to the satellite building of Suvarnabhumi.

Nagas and some mystical figures that will welcome passengers of the central atrium
Eastern Transfer Zone. Despite the addition of many eateries, the prices have shot up like other airports. For example, Burger King has replaced KFC and a typical meal cost around 220B (S$9+) - US prices but asian serving. -_-"

Restricted Gate "D" Zones. Apparently we entered from the East D Zone, so the whole area was quiet and empty while walking from Gates D8 to D2. As usual, no liquids beyond 100ml otherwise all goes to the transparent bins next to the security checks.

Finally, our Swiss plane has arrived from Zurich.
Entrance via Gate D2 - one of the most convenient gates nearest to the immigration area.
Star Alliance member - Swiss Flight LX 0182 codeshares with Austrian Air OS 8817

Waiting Area for our flight...Somehow the curvature of the windows seem very similar to CDG-Paris Airport, except that the seats seen below looks so cheapskate.

Boarding Pass for eTix + Swiss Luggage Tag
1520hrs - Onboard Swiss Flight LX 0182/OS 8817.
Airbus Industrie A340-313X; HB-JMI, the latest fleet of A343 delivered on 2004-06-22, that means its only 3 years old! Thank goodness the plane i've been praying for is here! Haha.

Seat Configuration 2-4-2. Our seats are amazingly so front. Seats 31A,B,D. Loads are around 50%. Empty First Class, 90% full business class all from Zurich - S'pore, 65% full for Economy. And whoa...my seat is empty in front, and many many rows behind! Can get to lie down and watch a few movies on PTV.

Video Footage of entering Swiss Flight LX 0182

Seats 29 D,E,F (bulkhead seats with immovable arm rests - the "Be Aware" seats) and Seats 30D behind.
Individual Entertainment System control set with AVOD function
Eastern side of Survarnabhumi as seen from our plane

"Live" camera image of whats going on at our wheels...hmph, why sq doesnt have this!

LX 0182/OS 8817 departed on time. The usual padi fields of Thailand.

Rainbow!!!
Dinner for the day

Main Dish - Fried Noodles with greens, sliced carrots and mushroom

Desserts - Cubes of pineapple, watermelon, rockmelon

Bakery - Steamed Bun (but hardened upon oxidation)
Beverage - Thai Water, any drinks from the drinks trolley are all from Thailand no matter whether you are going to Zurich or not. Orange, Apple, mineral water = all Thai. Exception: Swiss Carbarnet Sauvignon Wine. At least theres something decent onboard.
....to top it all, a pair of Thai chopsticks. All in plastic, microwavable plates and bowls. How disappointing for a full-fledged long-haul carrier.

Finally, a piece of complimentary Swiss chocolate to tempt you to go to Switzerland. Business class passengers get a bigger bar of choco.

The tranquility of being 30,000 ft high up...
Ahh...the familiar offshore islands...
Yes! its Pulau Tekong Estate and its reclaimed areas...
Flight LX 0182 landed safely at 1855hrs.

End of Bangkok Trip! =)

Welcome to JayWalker's Travelogue,
travel is part of our DNA
it was once a matter of survival
travel memories are often our fondest
the world is like a book
those who do not travel only read one page
or to some, the world is a scary place
but life is to be lived
and enjoyed right where they are
so plunge into a fantasy
and take a journey
its part of being human
